2007 Call for Abstracts

The PCBIC Organizing Committee and the Brain Injury Association of Canada invites you to submit a paper for consideration at the 2007 conference.  You and your peers are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to present new ideas at Canada’s national event on brain injury.  In the past 20 years, presenters and participants have come from across Canada, the United States and Europe. Instructions for Abstract Submissions
All abstracts are to be submitted  electronically via this website.  If you experience difficulty submitting your abstract, please contact Darcel Moro at 604-949-0716 for assistance and support.   Faxed and emailed submissions are not accepted.

The following instructions are for electronic submission. Once you have read the instructions below go to "Submit your abstract"  link at the bottom of this page to submit your paper electronically. You will receive an email automated confirmation of each abstract submission.  If you do not receive this email your submission has not been completed or received by PCBIC.

Submissions imply the intent of at least one author to register, attend the conference, present the paper either orally or in poster format and, if requested, submit manuscripts for publication in the conference proceedings.

Presentations for the Medical/Research stream will be either 30 or 60 minutes in length.  All other presentations will be either 60 or 90 minutes in length or in poster format.Please reserve 5%of your allotted time for question and answer,discussion or interactive group work.

Abstract submissions must be typed;single-spaced and must include the following documents:

  1. Presenter Information
    • Abstract Title
    • Presenters
      • Include only the names of presenters who will be attending the conference.
      • For each presenter include first and last names, credentials, place of employment (if applicable) and complete mailing address, phone number, fax number, email address. You must provide contact information for all the authors who will present the abstract at the conference.
    • Preferred Format
      • Concurrent Session 60 min
      • Concurrent Session 90 min
      • Medical/Research 30 min
      • Medical/Research 60 min
      • Poster Presentation

  2. Abstract For Review
    • Abstract Title
    • Objectives
      • Objectives should state the purpose of the work and outline what the audience will take away from your presentation in 2 to 3 sentences. Examples: "Participants will apply…", "Participants will gain appreciation of…", "Participants will incorporate XYZ into their practice.", etc.  This information is used by PCBIC to select and promote your presentation.
    • Abstract (250 words or less)
    • Target Audience
    • Service Providers, Survivors, Families, Lawyers, Medical, Other (please list)

Conditions of Acceptance
All presenters must register for the conference and are responsible for their expenses including travel, accommodation & conference registration. Presenters must secure funding for the registration fees, travel and accommodations independent of PCBIC through their own sponsoring organizations. Abstract authors who are survivors of brain injury or family members of a survivor may request presenter subsidy for registration and hotel accommodation through PCBIC. Presenters attending the FULL conference on February 16 & 17, 2007 will receive a $150.00 credit towards their early registration fee of $450.00 CND + GST.
