Scope Of Community Involvement - Functional Classification

During the opening plenary Allen Heinemann will speak on the results of his recent study funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research. 3 Focus Groups were identified including those persons with strokes, traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries. This research looked at the community participation of these 3 Focus Groups with the objective of guiding the future provision of rehabilitation services. From this study, recommendations will be identified for community-based supports and system changes to sustain long-term community participation. Jerome Bickenbach and a member of the BC Coalition for Persons with Disabilities will join in a panel discussion following Dr. Heinemann's presentation to discuss the implications of this research on providing future services for persons with disabilities in British Columbia.
